About Me Hi! My name is Megan Hayes and it is my FOURTH year at Smithfield Elementary as the Physical Education teacher! I hope to get to know each and every one of you throughout the school year, but I wanted to give you a little info about myself as well.
I received my Bachelors in K-12 Physical Education and Health in 2011 from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. After completing my internship in an elementary school in Pitt County, I decided I wanted to learn more about the mental part of exercise and how to motivate those who lack interest in physical activity. So, I started graduate school at ECU in the Fall of 2011 and finished up in May 2013! My Masters degree is in Exercise and Sport Science, with a concentration in Exercise Psychology. I spent the last two years working with overweight and obese adolescents, as well as their families, and learned various ways to motivate and encourage activity in such populations. I truly have a passion for living an active lifestyle and love working with those of all ages, but elementary school aged children are my favorite age to work with! Follow Smithfield PE on Twitter for updates, photos, and reminders about your children's physical education class @smithfieldPE You may also email me on my school email address- [email protected] |
Fun Facts!I have one son- Noah! He was born on August 17, 2015 and is such a funny kid! Noah loves throwing a ball and going for walks outside in his wagon. I have a dog named Moose. He turned 7 this year... and is still not quite sure about his brother yet... I got married on September 21, 2013! We have been together for almost 8 years :) I LOVE to read! I often read and exercise at the same time- it's the best of both worlds! I have wayyy to many pairs of Nike running shoes. Some people collect purses or tools- however, I MUST get new running shoes as often as possible. (They are often very funky). |
