ONLINE OPTION
Exciting news! Smithfield is now offering an ONLINE OPTION to logging physical activity. Using Google Forms, all you need to do is fill in the blanks regarding the activity of your child. Please remember to include the name of your child and their teacher along with the activity in the blank. Listing activities is encouraged because each entry constitutes a week worth of activity. Parents of 3-5 grade students- please encourage them to log their own activity! One of the most recommended ways to stay healthy is to log your own physical activity! Awards will be updated monthly- as before. Please make sure logs are up-to-date at the beginning of each month.

NON-ONLINE OPTION
To be a part of this program children are required to fill out a daily fitness log. Students are asked to return monthly to school. Why do we ask you to do this? Many government agencies and health organizations say that elementary-aged children should be active for 60 minutes a day to be healthy. Since we get 30 minutes of physical activity at school each day, we ask the students of Smithfield to be active another 30 minutes after school hours, 5 days a week. This can be done playing at home or in the neighborhood, participating on a sport’s team, or being enrolled in a physical activity at a fitness organization like the “Y”. We will post the names of those children who are active, and bring their completed logs in each month, in the hallway. They will also earn a ribbon/sticker each quarter for program participation. Please encourage your child to be active each day; perhaps you could even join with them to get your daily physical activity too! They look up to you more than you think!!
